As a devoted mother of Maui Tonata, a powerhouse player on the Orem High football team, Mrs. Tonata has long been a familiar and encouraging presence on the sidelines.

This season, however, carried a weight far heavier than most. The passing of her husband, a passionate football superfan who never missed a chance to support his son and the team, made every game without him an emotional challenge.

Many would understand if she had chosen to step back. Instead, Mrs. Tonata showed up.
